4.0 out of 5 stars excellent product, if you can prime the pump ("error E05"), January 31, 2012

Had a lot of frustration setting it up, but now that it's working I'm beginning to fear coffee addiction. Like many others, I got the dreaded E05 priming error upon initialization; must have tried restarting the thing 20 times. Finally called Saeco support and was told that this is a common error ("possibly caused by sensor movement during shipping") and that I should return the product to Amazon. Yeah, right. So I googled for help and found the trick to entering the Service Menu: immediately after you switch it on press the LR, UL, UR, LL buttons in that sequence. Then you find the pump test and run it manually. Voila! Got the expected water heating message upon the next restart. Even installed and primed the filter. An espresso and two great cups of cappuccino later, I'm a very happy camper.

Just got this new machines. Had a Saeco Vienna Deluxe for 8 years that seems to be getting weak (had the boiler replaced twice during the 8 years, but otherwise a great machine at $600). Easy to unpack and get set up following the quick start guide. Had an issue with the water filter. The quick start does not even mention it. Finally found the installation instructions in the water filter box itself. The machine would not prime when we inserted the water filter as we were setting it up. We followed instructions and submerged it and squeezed it to get the water out but it quickly put up an error panel each time we tried to turn it on and get to prime. Thought we had a bad machine for a bit, but removed the filter completely and put water in it and it primed right up the first time. Ran some water through the steamer wand and then reinserted the filter and powered it off and on, and it primed fine and is using the filter now without issue.

One nice surprise is that the... Read more

If you're reading this, then I'm betting you're serious about getting something in this price range. Yes, it does what it says it does. Yes, the other reviews are correct about everything.

But here is what makes this special.

I no longer have make coffee myself. I just push a button. nice.

BUT, it seems like almost every super-auto doesn't heat up the milk enough. My Xelsis get the milk to about 105F. I like it at 150-160F. So, easy enough to fix but takes another 30 secs. I have to push the 'special' (yeah, that's what it's called)button to get the option for MORE hot milk (not hotter just more) as the drink options don't allow for enough milk vs. coffee (for my preference) and then once again for steam. But the steaming wand is ready within a second and the process of getting my mildly warm latte from 105 to 150 is about 25 seconds, which is outstanding!

So, I do recommend this Super-A to anyone that wants a machine to remember their... Read more
